{"id":1978,"date":"2012-11-21T08:40:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-21T13:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.totellyouthetruth.net\/?p=1978"},"modified":"2012-11-21T08:40:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-21T13:40:00","slug":"the-house-of-mourning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davecruver.com\/?p=1978","title":{"rendered":"The House of Mourning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ecclesiastes 7 provides some wisdom:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is better to go to the house of mourning<\/p>\n<p>than to go to the house of feasting,<\/p>\n<p>for this is the end of all mankind,<\/p>\n<p>and the living will lay it to heart. (Ecclesiastes 7:2)<\/p>\n<p>The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,<\/p>\n<p>but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. (Ecclesiastes 7:4)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Death is not a pleasant thing to think about. It is anything but natural.<\/p>\n<p>But death is a part of life that everyone will experience this side of Christ&#8217;s Second Coming.<\/p>\n<p>If I were to prepare for the House of Mourning, I would ask that my friends sing the following songs and read the following Scripture. First the songs, then the Scriptures.<\/p>\n<p>Simply put, I want everyone to leave weeping for joy in our Savior, encouraged of His love for each of us, exhorted to live life to God&#8217;s glory, and bold to share the Good News of Jesus the Savior of men&#8217;s souls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Songs<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Amazing Grace<\/li>\n<li>Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed<\/li>\n<li>A Mighty Fortress Is Our God<\/li>\n<li>All the Way My Savior Leads Me<\/li>\n<li>Be Still, My Soul<\/li>\n<li>And Can It Be<\/li>\n<li>Before the Throne of God Above<\/li>\n<li>Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine<\/li>\n<li>Face to Face with Christ, My Savior<\/li>\n<li>Great Is Thy Faithfulness<\/li>\n<li>He Is Exalted<\/li>\n<li>He Leadeth Me! O Blessed Thought<\/li>\n<li>He Lives<\/li>\n<li>I Sing the Mighty Power of God<\/li>\n<li>I Stand Amazed in the Presence<\/li>\n<li>In Christ Alone (My Hope Is Found)<\/li>\n<li>O Worship the King<\/li>\n<li>The Wonderful Cross<\/li>\n<li>There Is a Fountain<\/li>\n<li>There Is a Redeemer<\/li>\n<li>Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Scripture<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!<br \/>\nServe the LORD with gladness!<br \/>\n\t\tCome into his presence with singing!<br \/>\n\tKnow that the LORD, he is God!<br \/>\n\t\tIt is he who made us, and we are his;<br \/>\n\t\twe are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.<br \/>\n\tEnter his gates with thanksgiving,<br \/>\n\t\tand his courts with praise!<br \/>\n\t\tGive thanks to him; bless his name!<br \/>\n\tFor the LORD is good;<br \/>\n\t\this steadfast love endures forever,<br \/>\n\t\tand his faithfulness to all generations. ~Psalm 100<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeath is swallowed up in victory.\u201d<br \/>\n\t\u201cO death, where is your victory?<br \/>\n\t\tO death, where is your sting?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. ~1 Corinthians 15:50-58<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Have you not known?
